Guns Down America Responds to Trump Rally Shooting: Guns Have No Place In Our Democracy

Denver, CO — Today, on the news that former President Donald Trump was injured and a spectator was killed at a Trump campaign rally, Guns Down America Executive Director Hudson Munoz issued the following statement:

“We were shocked by the shooting at former President Trump’s political rally today. But we were not surprised. Guns are far too easy to get and the gun industry has long promoted guns as tools of political violence. To be clear: guns should have no place in our democracy, and political violence serves no purpose, other than to destroy faith in our political process.

“We’re glad former President Trump is safe, and call on all Americans - including former President Trump - to condemn gun violence and stay level-headed as the investigation and prosecution unfold.”
