Since 2012, our partners at Newtown Action Alliance have organized the National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence to honor the anniversary of the Sandy Hook mass shooting and gather to honor all victims with action for gun safety. This event is a powerful moment for survivors of gun violence and family members of those who have been lost to gather, mourn, and move forward together. Hundreds of advocates and survivors join for a memorial ceremony, and reinforce their commitment to safer communities through collaborative meetings with policymakers.

In 2025, Guns Down America became a producing partner of this event to drive more awareness and attendance, steward survivors, and help the movement build greater relationships between advocates, survivors, organizations, and policymakers. This will continue to be a focus as a way to connect more people to the movement, amplify stories that change hearts and minds, and create an even bigger platform for survivors to drive change that will make every American safer.
