FedEx Puts NRA’s Blood Money First

February 27, 2018

WASHINGTON -- Guns Down, a bolder, broader movement calling for dramatically fewer guns in America has released the following statement announced after FedEx announced that it will continue to offer NRA members discounts for using FedEx services.

“While countless major corporations have decided they should not be subsidizing the NRA’s reckless and irresponsible agenda that is costing us tens of thousands of lives every year, FedEx has shockingly decided it wants to be the last man standing with the NRA,” said Igor Volsky, Director of Guns Down. “I can’t help but wonder how much blood money FedEx is making through this partnership with the NRA and whether that money is worth the thousands of deaths that come with helping the gun lobby with an agenda that puts more and more firearms into our communities.”

Today Guns Down announced that nearly 150,000 people have signed the organization’s petition demanding that FedEx stop offering large discounts to NRA members.

FedEx is standing with the NRA even while more than a dozen major corporations, including Delta Airlines, United, Enterprise Holdings, and insurance giant Chubb and Lockton have all decided to stop doing business with the NRA. FedEx offers discounts up to 26 percent on FedEx shipping, an arrangement that is marketed by the NRA to members as a benefit of membership.

Led by Guns Down and launched in December 2016, the campaign, dubbed #BloodyFedEXmas, generated massive response from people all across the country who signed the petition. Participating organizations included: Campaign To Unload, Color of Change, Coalition To Stop Gun Violence, Guns Down, Media Matters for America, Moms Rising, Newtown Action Alliance, One Pulse, Pride Fund To End Gun Violence, and States United to Prevent Gun Violence.

Guns Down is a bolder, broader movement calling for dramatically fewer guns in America, and for making them dramatically harder to get.
